HAPPY SGT. MARK LALLI DAY! Yes, that's correct. Today, in the city of Strongsville, Ohio, it is officially, by proclamation of Mayor Thomas Persiak and the Strongsville City Council, SGT Mark R. Lalli Day.

Mark's friends had an open house for Mark today and a "little bird" called the mayor's office and let him know that Mark was home for the holidays. Mayor Persiak arrived at the party and presented Mark with the official city proclamation. It was a very nice surprise for Mark and it was very appreciated. After the presentation and the applause, Mark grinned and said "I guess I should have shaved!!" During high school, Mark used to work for the mayor's son-in-law who had a landscaping business and mowed the mayor's lawn.

Mark's friends from childhood and high school showed up, along with most of their parents and several teachers. Word travels quickly in this town which has been dubbed the largest small town in the area. Strongsville has grown from a small suburb to a large city in the past 25 years, but it has definitely retained it's small town feel.

The photos below are Mark's friends in the group pose we parents requested and the one they wanted. We'll let you guess which is which!!!

Just thought you'd like to know that your picture is hanging in the hall at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Strongsville and you remain on their prayer list. You are an inspiration to everyone.

Awesome kids and an awesome party! Looks like we are gonna get alittle snow for you Mark! Better get the chains out! I hope you continue to have a wonderful visit and wish you a good flight back to the land of sun. Keep practicing with the walker and soon they will have to put wheels on it. It was a great day seeing you and meeting the family. Stay in touch! I am always just an email away.

Hello to All the Lalli Family,

It is New Year's eve here and I have just enjoyed reading about Mark's homecoming, the family Christmas, Mark Lalli Day in Strongsville and all of your high hopes for 2009.

Congratulations Mark and the whole family because you have really put in a massive 2008 - both physically and emotionally.

We will enjoy a few prawns (shrimps) for you and maybe a couple of cool ales too. It is 26 degrees here and the crowds are already trecking to stake their positions around Sydney Harbour for the NYE celebrations and fireworks.

Here is to a fantastic 2009 for all of you!!!
