Our day today was about a seven. Mark did not sleep well again last night and was worn out this morning. They have changed his pain and anxiety medications and, hopefully, this new combination will work. He was quite sleepy most of the day, but did do well with physical therapy. He was not awake enough to participate in speech therapy very well. When he did wake, he was much more cooperative and not agitated which was such a relief. His doctor explained that this is a situation that is trial and error in that everyone responds differently to a TBI and everyone reacts differently to the medications used. Sometimes the medications need to be changed because one combination will work for a while and then suddenly it doesn't. I asked him if he was putting it nicely that it's a crap shoot and he smiled and said "pretty much".

Mark has been eating well, despite the fact that the food is pureed and pretty awful. Tonight he asked for steak and beer. When we told him he couldn't have a beer he said anything else alcoholic would be fine. We promised him as soon as he could have it, we would at least give him a steak!

It's great to be able to follow Mark's progress. As an Ecolab employee, your e-mail updates had been forwarded from a friend and now I'm hooked on the blog to track Mark's progress. While I don't know Mark or Rich or your family personally, I feel connected through our company and your blog and am rooting for you all the way.

Keep your spirits up Rich and the entire Lalli family - we have you in our thoughts!

Ann, Thanks for keeping up the posts. Our family reads them regularly and you know that we're cheering on every inch of progress. Tell Mark that we said hello and that I promise him that I'll take him and his buddies out for a beer and a steak on me when he gets home.

Ann,

Thanks so much for the updates. It was great to see Rich at the management meeting this week. I know he must have been grateful for some sort of normalcy. However, I know you're not getting that type of break and you'll be in my prayers too. Often the caregiver is overlooked. I can only imagine how much work this is for you, but only a mother wouldn't look at it that way. I'm so happy to read the daily reports. Please know you, Mark, and Rich are constantly in our prayers. Diana McDonough, Ecolab

Mr. and Mrs. Lalli:
Glad to see Mark is doing well in his recovery. I just found out about the website and it is nice being able to see what accomplishments he is doing daily. Let him know we are all praying for him and hope he is able to get home soon. Take care and let us know if we can offer any help here at home. Bob, Patty, Megan and Patrick Haffner

Hi Ann, Rich and Mark,
One day at a time...keep hanging in there! I will be praying they find the right combination of meds that will help him. I love that his sense of humor still shines through. Ann - let us know what your day is like. Numbers 6:24 The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you, the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.
Love, Kathy and Bill
